changing accountants

changing accountants?

Whatever the reason, changing accountant can be a hard sell. For many, the process can seem too complicated and risky, with no guarantee of a better service afterward. Others just don’t want to hurt their accountant’s feelings.

But when it’s time to switch accountant… your business must come first.

  • Full and experienced representation in HMRC correspondence and investigations
  • Detailed forecasting and bespoke solutions to cash flow issues
  • Insider advice and support on international tax issues

There are a number of factors to take into consideration when changing accountant. Knowledge, experience, and additional services are crucial, but so are straightforward fee structures and, above all, a personal touch.

There are a number of reasons why it might be time to changing accountants, whether you’re looking for additional small business help or changing contractor accountants. Perhaps your tax savings are outweighed by errors, missed opportunities, and late filing penalties. Or maybe your accountant fails to adequately explain your figures—or worse, doesn’t fully understand them. Sometimes it comes down to a lack of rapport or a lack of a qualified accountant. On the other hand, maybe you’ve just outgrown them.

Changing is easy

If you decide we’re a good fit, the first thing you’ll need to do is email your existing accountant to terminate their services. This doesn’t have to be a long message, and you don’t even need a reason. Just be sure to let them know our details and CC us in on the email. You’ll also need to give permission for your existing accountants to transfer the relevant documents to us. We can then formally request all the information they hold on you and your business. It’s in everyone’s interest to get this process over with quickly, so it shouldn’t take long. Once we have everything we need, we’ll carry out the formalities of confirming your identity and trading status and sign the contract between us before setting you up on our system. Whether it’s time to switch contractor accountant or replace unsatisfactory business advisors, you must do what’s right for your business. Just keep in mind that waiting until the end of your financial year before switching accountants will help to avoid unnecessary expenditure.
